JEWISH COALITION FOR LITERACY

In 2020, 2021 and 2022 the Jeff Astor foundation supported a book fund for the public school student’s Reading Buddies program. This program engages Jewish day school students in assisting struggling young readers at the public schools.

Jewish Coalition for Literacy recruits, trains and matches over 300 tutors with about 1,000 struggling k-3 readers in 55 Bay Area public elementary and afterschool programs. In addition to school based programs, JCL gives free workshops for parents and free books for children to promote literacy at home.
